  The Rockleigh - Bergen County Golf Course

   The Rockleigh Golf Course, owned and operated by the Bergen County Department of Parks & Recreation, spreads over 264 rolling acres.  It is one of the most beautiful public courses in this part of the country.  The Rockleigh's rolling greensward and meadow against the backdrop of the steep and wooded western slope of the Palisades contribute to the feeling of openness and add immeasurably to game as the seasons bring change through spring, summer and fall. Rockleigh Woods Sanctuary

    In 1975 Rockleigh purchased over 81 acres of the Lamont tract of Camp Alpine from the Boy Scouts of America, New York Council as well as from some private holdings. This purchase preserves in perpetuity the foot of the Palisade uplands within Rockleigh Borough along the eastern boarder from development. There is a network of marked, but unimproved, trails through the former farmstead properties of the area. Access is from the Rockleigh Borough Hall parking lot.

Lamont East Hill Tract

    Again in 1996, Rockleigh Borough initiated the purchase of the remainder of the 134 acre Lamont East-Hill Tract within the Borough of Alpine from the Boy Scouts of America, New York Council. This  Rockleigh acquisition, in conjunction with the Borough of Alpine and Bergen County,  preserves in perpetuity  the western slope and upland plateau of the Palisade from development. The parkland is minimally maintained and preserves the natural forest and habitat of the area. There is a network of marked, but unimproved, trails through the area. Access is from parking lot at Rockleigh Borough Hall, through Rockleigh Woods Sanctuary.

   Long recognized for its country atmosphere, Rockleigh Borough has been included in the State of New Jersey's long-range "Open Space Plan" as a "green area" worth preserving for future generations.
